How To Choose Your Wedding Bouquet

Before you make any decisions its best to start with the facts.  Wedding bouquets come in three basic styles: round/posy, hand-tied or cascade.

  • The round bouquet is the most popular, it has lots of flowers and they can be of several types
    and colours.
  • The cascade bouquet is shaped like a waterfall, with more flowers on top and some flowers
flowing downwards. It is usually mixed with some greenery for a natural look.
  • The hand-tied wedding bouquet, is gaining in popularity these days and  is more casual than
the other two styles. It’s composed of a bunch of flowers tied together with a ribbon, with the
    stems revealed.

But which wedding bouquet is the best style for you? Its best to keep these three things in mind:

1. Your body size
2. Your wedding gown style
3. The look that you want.

Most florists will recommend the following when it comes to body shape (but remember rules can
be broken!)

1. Short ladies: go for a large teardrop or sheath bouquet, as they need to add height. These two
types of
bouquets give the illusion of length, were as a posy would make you look more compact and shorten
you even more.

2. Tall Ladies: go for a large posy or a medium teardrop bouquet. A large posy will draw the eye
down and give people a focal point so that they won’t be focusing on your height. A medium teardrop
will also draw the eye down so that your height looks a little more even.

3. Large Ladies: should get a large bouquet. A small bouquet will exaggerate your width, and make
you seem larger than you really are. Use a large bouquet, which will make you seem much slimmer.

4. Petite Ladies: choose a round bouquet. The size of the round bouquet will balance your body and
you’ll look your best on your wedding day.

Make sure your colour choice suits your wedding dress and your bridesmaids dresses. And don’t forget
to check with your florist that your chosen flowers are in season!
